One of the most prevalent fruits of spending age in the wilderness is a more developed level of common sense. As a Christian outdoor leader, I have been amazed at how much Jesus used outdoor adventure to knead into his disciples a keener appreciation for common sense by pushing them outside of their comfort zones. As the ancient adage goes, “beware of the obvious”, common sense is that path as well. Often the answers or solutions are fair under our nose. We just demand to be pushed into a situation where we have to employ the knowledge we have access to, and be assertive in making a excellent choice. So lets gaze at some of the ways Jesus appealed to common sense to develop his disciples into dynamic leaders.
